Harold N. "Bobo" Benke, Jr., 60, a resident of Old Forge, died Thursday morning at Mercy Hospital after an illness. He and his wife, the former Jean Ann Guarilglia, would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on May 15.
Born Jan. 23, 1944, in Scranton, son of Dolores Sillner Benke, Scranton, and the late Harold J. Benke Sr., he attended Scranton Technical High School. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Old Forge, where he was an usher and active with the Holy Name Society. He was employed by McKinney Manufacturing.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and great-uncle. He loved his granddaughters; he lived for them and spending time with them. He was an avid Penn State football and Syracuse basketball fan.
Also surviving are two daughters, Darlene Bozenko, Old Forge; and Susan Ralston, Taylor; a brother, Ronald, Scranton; four sisters, Judith Guerrero, Raleigh, N.C.; and Ann Marie Tucker, Karen Perrotti and Gail Benke, all of Scranton; two granddaughters; nieces and nephews; a grandniece and grandnephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with Mass at 9:30 in St. Mary's Church, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge. Interment, Old Forge Cemetery.
