Carolyn Jones Osborn, 84, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Monday morning at the Mountain Rest Nursing Home after an illness. Her husband, William R. Jones, died June 20, 1959.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late William and Sinah Phillips Richards, she was a member of the First United Church of Christ. Before retirement, she was employed by the F.W. Woolworth Co. and the Salvation Army.
She was a loving person and a lovely dresser.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Summa, Scranton, and Barbara J. McCracken, Taylor; a son, William R. Jones, Scranton; a sister, Dorothy Hayes, Bradenton, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Thomas, and a sister, Eleanor Swift.
The funeral will be Friday at 8 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with services by the Rev. Gary T. Jones, pastor, First United Church of Christ and Trinity United Church of Christ. Cremation will be held, with interment at a later date in Washburn Street Cemetery.
