Pasquale John Bentivegna, 90, of Moosic,
died Wednesday morning at the VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County Inpatient Unit at
Community Medical Center. He and his wife, the former Mayme Castellano,
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 27.
Born July 28, 1913, in Dunmore, son of the late Rosario and Carmella Pilato Bentivegna, he attended Dunmore public schools and was a graduate of the University of Scranton, earning a bachelor of arts degree. A member and usher of St. Joseph's Church, he was president and vice president of the Lions Club and a member of the University of Scranton Lambda Alpha Phi fraternity. He worked for the Air Force at Chanute Air Force Base, Ill., then Gulfport Air Force Base, Kessler, Miss., and retired after approximately 32 years from Shepherd Air Force Base headquarters, Wichita Falls, Texas, as quality control manager. During his career, he worked in various positions including administration, instructing and supervising. When the missile program was initiated, he worked in missile development.
Also surviving are a daughter, Gail Ann Bentivegna, Chicago; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Salvatore, Louis and Michael, and two sisters, Theresa VanHorn and Mary Namm.
The funeral will be Saturday with Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 312 Davis St. Interment, parish cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., 18509-1599.
