Myrtle Benedict

Myrtle Benedict, 91, a lifelong South Scranton resident, died Sunday morning at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Paul Marullo, who died Feb. 12, 1965, and Edwin Benedict, who died July 7, 1978.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Bernard and Bertha Heinrich Scheuneman, she was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, South Scranton, and a member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3451 Women's Auxiliary. Before retirement, she had worked for Jaunty Silk Mill.
Surviving are a sister, Dorothy Krystiniak, Owego, N.Y.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Scheuneman, and a sister, Amelia Schraner.
The funeral and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 730 Pittston Avenue, 18505-4103.
