
C. Ruth Gruenewald Burdon

C. Ruth Gruenewald Burdon, 91, a resident of Endicott, N.Y., and a former longtime resident of Dunmore, died Thursday evening at the Ideal Senior Center, Endicott, after a brief illness. Her husband, George D. Burdon, died Nov. 21, 1997.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Jacob and Christina Hopf Gruenewald, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church and the Century Club. Prior to retirement, she had been employed as an executive secretary for Red Cross.
Surviving are three nieces, Karen Galli, Apalachin, N.Y.; Cindy Mitchell, St. Louis; and Penny Burdon, Philadelphia; a nephew, Kenneth Burdon, Seattle; several great-nieces, great-nephews and a great-great-niece.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Gruenewald.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Schautz Chapel at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 550 Madison Ave., with services by the Rev. Fred D. Milligan, pastor, Covenant Presbyterian Church. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery. Friends attending services are asked to go directly to the church.
