Raymond P. Widenor Sr., a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Monday night at Moses Taylor Hospital shortly after admission. He and his wife, the former Louceale F. Evans, would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary Sept. 27.
Born in Scranton, son of the late E. and Elizabeth Davis Widenor, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of the Puritan Congregational Church. Prior to retirement, he was self-employed as a carpet installer.
Also surviving are two sons, E. William, Scranton, and Raymond P. Jr., Doylestown; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and George, and a sister, Myrtle Galvin.
Private funeral services and committal were held Friday by the Rev. Judy Schmitt, pastor, Puritan Congregational Church. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township.
