Ann M. Fisch, 75, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Friday morning in the VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She and her husband, John J. Fisch, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary June 24.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James and Mary Neary Cavanaugh, she attended Nativity School and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1947. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church.
She was an inspiration to her family, a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She loved her bingo and going to the Tropicana in Atlantic City.
Also surviving are three daughters, Susan McCrea, and her husband Michael, Scranton; Lori Scarnato, and her husband Greg, Taylor, and Tricia Kmiec, and her husband Carl, Dupont; two sons, Jay Fisch, and his wife Linda, Eugene, Ore., and Thomas Fisch, and his wife Gina, Scranton; a sister, MaryLou Donohue, Levittown; 15 grandchildren, Sara Kawka, Rebecca Waslin, Sean McCrea, Aislen McCrea, Heidi Fisch, Dana Fisch, Lindsay Fisch, Meghan Fisch, Tom Fisch, Jason Scarnato, Jessica Scarnato, Amber Scarnato, Elizabeth Kmiec, Nicole Kmiec and Anna Kmiec; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Joseph Waslin; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Robert and John Cavanaugh; and three sisters, Rose O'Malley, Ruth Wetzel and Kathryn Thomas.
The funeral will be Monday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Nativity of our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St. Entombment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
