

Clarence "Clary" Lucke

Clarence "Clary" Lucke, 83, a lifelong resident of
Scranton, died Wednesday morning at home after an illness. He was preceded
in death by his first wife, Marie Ann Clark, and his widow is the former
Carol Beppler. They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary Feb. 22.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Maximillian and Julia
Bauman Lucke, he was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army, and a
member of the Mountain Lake Sportsman Club.
He loved his family and his dogs, Tiny and Angel, was an avid
hunter and fisherman, and volunteered at the Friends of the Poor.
Also surviving are eight daughters, Grace Duffy, Moscow; Mary
E. Smith, Mount Cobb; Marie Ann Jasnoski, Duryea; Linda Fisher, Olyphant;
Deborah Izak, Scranton; Ann Lucke, Scranton; Yvonne Lucke, Hamlin; and Penny
Cooper, Scranton; four sons, Clarence Lucke Jr., Scranton; William Lucke,
Old Forge; James Lucke, Hamlin; and Sean Silfee, Dupont; a sister, Anna
Pica, Scranton; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and
nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lucke;
and a brother, Rawland.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Miller Bean
Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with services by the Rev. Arthur W.
Davis, retired pastor with the United Methodist ministry. Interment,
Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial
