Miss Ruth Carol Witt, 87, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Monday morning in the Mercy Hospital after an illness.

    She was born in Scranton, daughter of the late Albert and Lillian Krebs Witt, and a member of Hickory Street Baptist Church.

    She was the last surviving member of her family, a gentle and compassionate person who was loved by everyone who knew her. Nurses' aides and patients at the Mountain Rest Nursing Home, where she was a resident for the past four years, can attest to her lovely and kind disposition.

    She was preceded in death by three sisters, Miss Gladys C., Miss Dorothy L. and Miss Elizabeth A., and a brother, Kenneth.

    The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with services by the Rev. F. Louis Bausch, pastor of Hickory Street Baptist Church. Interment will be held privately in the Dunmore Cemetery.
