Louise Jordan, 95, a resident at the Taylor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of South Scranton, died early Friday morning in the center. She was the widow of Joseph G. Jordan, who died Feb. 23, 1984.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late William and Charlotte
Heidrich Kirchhoff, she was educated in Scranton schools and a graduate of
the Powell School of Business. She was a member of Hickory Street
Presbyterian Church, the Women of Hickory, the Scranton Chapter of the Sweet
Adelines and the last member of the Newadawa Club. Prior to retirement, she
was employed in the layaway department of the Scranton Dry Goods Co.
She was a loving mother who enjoyed her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who
knew her.
Surviving are a son, John W. Jordan, and his wife Carole,
Scranton; a daughter, Alyce Mattern, and her husband Robert, Scranton; 10
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Jr. and Donald;
two brothers, William and Floyd Kirchhoff, and four sisters, Stella
Kirchhoff, Charlotte Coursen, Edna McGreevy and Esther Kelly.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Miller Bean
Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with services by the Rev. Tom H. Collins,
pastor of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. Interment, Dunmore
Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions
