James  Lees  Sr.

    James Lees Sr., 80, a resident of Scranton since immigrating from Scotland to the United States with his family at the age of two, died early Thursday morning, in the Adams Manor Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his companion of many years, Barbara A. Pilger who died December 30, 1994.


    He was born in Scotland, the son of the late William and Sarah Curnes Lees. He attended Scranton Public Schools and prior to his retirement had been employed for 20 years by the Thomas A. Gerrity Moving and Storage Company, Scranton.

 

    Surviving are 3 sons, James, Scranton, William, Nebraska, Richard, Scranton; 2 daughters, June Romaninsky and Linda Lees both of Scranton; 3 sisters, his care giver for the past 12 years Christine Williams, Scranton, Rachel Santarsiero, Old Forge and Margaret Boylan, Scranton; a brother, Arthur Lees, Old Forge; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


    He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, William and John; a sister, Sarah Phelps.


    The Funeral will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with services by Rev. Arthur P. Davis, Pastor of First Congregational Church of Christ, Taylor. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
