Mildred  Hofmeister Pratt

    Mildred Hofmeister Pratt, 89, a resident of Laurel, Delaware, died Wednesday evening following a long illness. She moved to Delaware following the death of her husband, Philip Martin Pratt, who died July 10, 1998, prior to then she was a longtime resident of Roaring Brook Township and South Scranton.

    She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mame Berkley Hofmeister. She was a lifelong member of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, a member of the Women of Hickory, the Adult Fellowship, a member for over 60 years of Green Ridge Chapter #189 Order of Eastern Star, and past Worthy Matron (1948-1949) of Emera Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

    She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and special friend to all.

    Surviving is a daughter, Barbara and her husband John Shwed, with whom she resided the past three years, 2 granddaughters, Susan and her husband Jeff Whaley, Laurel, Delaware, Nancy Shwed, Laurel Delaware; 4 great grandchildren, Jordan, Zachary, Garrett and Sara Jo Whaley, all of Laurel, Delaware; several nieces & nephews.

    The funeral will be Monday in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with services at 1 pm by the Reverend Tom H. Collins, pastor of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore.

    Friends may call Monday 12 until time of services. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, 435 Hickory Street, Scranton, PA 18505-1113.
