Anna Konarkowski, 88, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died early Sunday morning in the Moses Taylor Hospital VNA Hospice inpatient unit, after an illness.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Jacob and
Josephine Sadowski Konarkowski. She was educated in Scranton public schools, a
member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, South Scranton and the South
Side Senior Center. Prior to retirement she had been employed by the Sauquoit
Silk Mill as a machine operator.
She was a caring sister and aunt, a very independent spirit,
who loved to walk.
Surviving is a sister, Stella Kerwin, Scranton; a brother,
Joseph, Bellville, NJ; 2 nieces, Arlene Kakareka, Moscow, Jo Ann Crosta, Nutley,
NJ; a nephew, Joseph Kakareka, Fort Myers, FL; cousins.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leon and Stanley; a
sister, Helen Kakareka and a nephew, Joseph Konarkowski, Jr.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Miller Bean Funeral
Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with mass at 12 p.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus and
Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Avenue. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
