Miss Loraine C. Polt, 80, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Thursday
morning in the Mountain View Care Center, after an illness.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late George M.
and Louise M. Linn Polt. She attended St. Mary’s School and was a member of
Saint Mary’s of the Assumption Church, South Scranton, the Altar and Rosary
Society, the Mallinckrodt Auxiliary and well known for speaking out for the
elderly and their rights with regards to the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act.
Prior to retirement she was employed by Avanti Cigar, Continental Cigar and
American Tobacco.
She was a lovely aunt and sister who is dearly loved by all
her relatives.
Surviving is a sister, Miss Dorette Polt, Scranton, several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerard R. and
George; 3 sisters, Mary Louise Jennings, Lucille Devine and Florence Kennerly.
The funeral will be Monday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home,
Inc., 436 Cedar Ave, Scranton with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s of the
Assumption Church. Interment, Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial
contributions can be made in her memory to the donors favorite charity.
