Freda O. Hollenback, 89, a resident of St. Mary’s Villa, Elmhurst, formerly of Scranton, died Wednesday evening in the Mercy Hospital after an illness. She was widow of Benjamin “Ben” Hollenback who died in 1959.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Julius and
Christine Krieg Jeske. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School,
class of 1934. She was employed for 42 years in the business office of
Lackawanna Pants Manufacturer and later as a secretary to the late Louis Dinner.
After retirement she attended Elder hostel programs at various colleges and
volunteered at St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen for several years.
She found much joy in her grandsons and loved playing with
her great grandchildren whom affectionately called her “Naps”.
Surviving is a daughter, Freda “Betsy” Youngblood and her
husband Jack, Scranton, 2 grandsons, Mark and his wife Lori, Scranton, Sean and
his wife Jean Marie, Elmhurst; three great grandchildren, Vaughn Youngblood, Scranton,
Alexis and Sydney Youngblood, Elmhurst; a sister, Alice Brink, Sunnyvale, CA,
nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by 8 sisters and a brother.
There will be a Blessing Service Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Pastor of St. Joseph’s Church. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Minooka.
Friends may call Saturday 10 a.m. until time of service.
