Mary C. Dowdell

Mary C. Dowdell, 89, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Sunday in the Little Sisters of the Poor, Holy Family Residence.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Peter J.
and Justina M. Klein Dowdell. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, a
lifelong member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, South Scranton, a member
of the Altar and Rosary and the After 50 Club. Prior to retirement she had been
employed as an office manger by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and a
member of the American Business Women’s Club.
Surviving are 2 sisters, Joan Morgan and her husband Thomas,
Scranton, Madelyn Gastinger, Scranton; a brother, Joseph Dowdell and his wife
Jannett, Scranton; 2 sister in laws, Alice Dowdell, Scranton, Lois Dowdell,
Lancaster; several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Paul, John and
Francis.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Miller Bean Funeral
Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's of the
Assumption Church. Interment, Saint Catherine’s Cemetery, Covington Township.
Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions
