
Shirley G. Arnold

Shirley G. Arnold, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Thursday evening
in the Community Medical Center, after an illness. She and her husband, Jack
Arnold, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary April 3, 2005.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late August and
Charlotte Henn Thiede. She attended Scranton Public Schools, was a member of the
Trinity United Church of Christ, Scranton, a volunteer at the United
Neighborhood Centers, South Scranton, a member of American Legion Major Edward
J. Poch Post #948 Women’s Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. Prior to retirement
she was employed by the Scranton School District.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a
unique way to make people laugh. She loved her dog Gidget and especially loved
the time spent with her grandchildren, who all knew her as Nana. She was a big
sports fan who liked attending sporting events, enjoyed fishing and traveling
with all her friends on bus trips from the senior citizens center.
Also surviving are a son, Glenn Mozeleski, Scranton; a
daughter, Sharon Olechna and her husband Richard, Scranton; a brother, Wayne
Thiede, Ashley; 3 granddaughters, Nicole, Heather and Lindsey all of Scranton; a
grandson, Richard, Scranton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother Donald Thiede.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Bean
Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Services by the Rev. Gary T. Jones,
Pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ. Interment, Fairview Memorial
Park, Elmhurst.
