George U. Rother

George U. Rother, 71, a resident of Scranton, died late Thursday night in the VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center, after an illness. He and his wife the former Elizabeth B. Brandon celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary August 30th.
He was born in Madgeburg, Germany, the son of the late George
and Johanna Horning Rother.
Also surviving are 3sons, Darin R. Rother, San Francisco, CA,
Michael G. Rother and his wife Helen, Sparks-Reno, NV, Daniel G. Rother,
Concord, CA, a granddaughter, Amanda L. Rother, Acworth, GA; his first wife
Lotti Rother, Brentwood, CA; his dear friends, Dick and Jan Spicka,
Hendersonville, NC; many brothers, sisters, friends and other family residing in
Germany and England.
Cremation services took place at the Maple Hill Crematory,
Hanover Township.
A Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, October 1, at
2 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue with Services by
the Rev. Arthur W. Davis, Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Christ,
Taylor.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, 1 p.m. until the
time of services. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to The
