Helen H. Yaggi

    Helen H. Yaggi, 96, a former longtime resident of Scranton, now a resident of Hamden, CT, died Monday afternoon in Connecticut Hospice Inc., Branford, CT. She was the widow of Emil C. Yaggi who died June 1969.


    She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Fred A. and Christine Bessmer Klatt. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, a member of St. Matthew’s United Evangelical Lutheran Church, formerly St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active with the Church Council and former Treasurer. She was a leader of the Girl Scout troop that met at the Trinity United Church of Christ, South Scranton, a mentor to other scout leaders and active with troop activities and camping. She was a member and a former board member of the Century Club and prior to retiring had been employed by the Globe Store in budget planning and merchandising.
She enjoyed the arts including, but not limited to, attended symphonies, concerts and dramas.


    Surviving are a daughter, Sandra H. Methot and her husband Normand, Hamden, CT; a sister, Ruth Walter, Scranton; a sister in law, Fay Klatt, Washington, DC; 2 grandchildren, Christien Methot and his wife Karina, New York City; Nicole Methot, Brooklyn, NY; 2 great grandchildren, Luka Suro Methot and Kalev Emil Methot, both of New York City; several nieces and nephews.


    She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Edna Yungkurth, Margaret C. Klatt; two brothers, Robert and Charles Jr.


    The funeral will be Friday with Services at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew’s United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 425 Jefferson Avenue, by Reverend C. Lester Stephenson. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.


    Friends may call Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue.
