Barbara Torbeck

    Barbara Torbeck, 73, a long time resident of Scranton, died Friday evening in the Moses Taylor VNA Hospice Unit after an illness. She and her husband, Clayton V. Torbeck would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary November 22, 2005.

    She was born Scranton, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Hope Burke. A member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School, Lackawanna Business college and attended Marywood College.

    She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt who spent her life caring for others.

    Also surviving are, a daughter, Carol Kochis, Scranton; 5 sons, Kenneth Torbeck, Dallas, Mark Torbeck, Dunmore, Bill Torbeck, Dunmore, Dave Torbeck and his wife Beth, Melbourne, FL, Mike Torbeck and his wife Cindy, Coconut Creek, FL; 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Burke and a sister, Jean Marino.

    The funeral will be Tuesday with services at 10:30 a.m. in the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, 435 Hickory Street, by the Rev. Tom H. Collins, pastor. Interment, will be private at the convenience of the family. Those attending Services are asked to go directly to the Church.

    Friends may call Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue.
