Lydia J. Ventre

    Lydia J. Ventre, 84, raised in the Tripp Park Section for 70 years until relocating to the East Mountain area in 1993, died at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania Thursday morning, following a lengthy illness. In 1949 she married Patrick F. Ventre with whom she enjoyed a joyful union until his death November 20, 2000.

    She was born in Scranton the daughter of Robert C. and Lydia Sobeck Schenrock Sr.. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of the Gospel Hall Assembly, Scranton. Prior to retirement she was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Preno’s Restaurant and Notari’s Drug Store.

    She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed and remembered by all for her sweet smile. She was artistically gifted having been an accomplished pianist and painter in her youth. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Jewish Home who treated her with loving care in her last year.

    Surviving, a son, Robert P. Ventre, New Philadelphia, OH; a daughter, Pamela R. Osborne and her husband Robert, Scranton; 7 grandchildren, Matthew Osborne and his wife Katherine, Bala Cynwyd, Meghan, Meredith and Olivia Osborne, Scranton, Rob Ventre, Manhattan, NYC, Jennifer and Jonathan Ventre, Scranton.

    She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Schenrock and a brother, Robert C. Schenrock. Jr..

    The funeral and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
