He was born in Hancock, NY, the son of Helen Papusha Baier Russiawa, Montrose and the late Josef Baier and stepson of the late, Phil Russiawa. He attended Hancock Central High School, served with the US Air force and was a member of the American Legion, Hancock, NY.

    Surviving is a daughter, Denise Baier, Lancaster, Kentucky; 2 sons, Robert Jr., and Shawn Baier both of Hancock, NY; 2 brothers, Josef Baier, and his wife Lucy, Gastonian, NC, William Baier and his wife Susan, Montrose, PA; 4 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by a brother James Baier.

    A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced.
