Rose Kane

    Rose Kane a lifelong resident of the Minooka section of Scranton, died early Wednesday morning in the Moses Taylor Hospital after a brief illness.

    She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Opinski Kane. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and prior to retirement had been employed by the Salvation Army.

    Rose was a peacemaker who practiced the teachings of God in her everyday life, always unselfish. She will be missed by everyone. Minooka will not be the same without Rose feeding the birds, other animals and caring so deeply about her neighbors.

    Surviving are 2 sisters, Mary "Mae" Kearney, Madisonville, Matilda Smith, Scranton; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

    She was preceded in death by 5 brothers Albert, Edward "Nedo", Jerome, Paul and Joseph.

    The funeral will be Saturday, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 312 Davis Street. Interment Parish Cemetery.
