He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Hugh and Grace Van Gordon Bird. He attended Scranton Public schools, was a veteran of WW II serving with the US Army, a former member of the Myrtle Street United Methodist Church and attended the Grace Hope and Bible Mission prior to its closing. Prior to retiring he had been employed as a pattern cutter at the Petersburg Silk Mill.

    Surviving is a brother, Robert L. Bird and his wife Shirley, Scranton, cousins, nieces & nephews.

    He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold "Jimmy" Bird; a sister, Alice Elizabeth Benjamin.

    Funeral Services will be held privately with interment in the Moscow Cemetery, Moscow. There will be no public calling hours.
