Eileen F. Ryder, R.N.

    Eileen F. Ryder, R.N. a resident of the Abington Area since 1970, died Wednesday afternoon in St. Mary’s Villa, Elmhurst.

    She was born in Scranton, March 19, 1922, the daughter of the late Daniel P. And Anne V. Duggan Ryder. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit, involved with many of the church activities, prior to her illness. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and St. Francis School of Nursing, Trenton, N.J. After completing her nursing degree, she enlisted in the US Army and served as an R.N. in the Army Nurse Corps, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. She graduated from Marywood College receiving a Bachelors of Arts degree in Education and prior to retirement was a teacher for over 30 years at North Scranton Junior High School.

    She was a kind loving person and gave of herself freely. She Loved her family and was a friend to all who knew her.

    Surviving is a sister, Jean Rosar, Scranton; 2 brothers, John "Jack" Ryder, Scranton and Joseph Ryder, Scranton; several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and great nephews.

    She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard Ryder and Thomas Ryder.

    The funeral will be Monday with Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 State Street, Clarks Summit. Family and Friends attending the funeral Mass are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

    Friends may call Sunday 4 to 7 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc. 436 Cedar Avenue. Memorial Contributions can be made in her memory to the donors favorite charity.
