Eugenia "Gennie" Spangenberg, 94, a former longtime resident of Scranton, died Thursday evening at the home of her son, Paul, in Ash, North Carolina where she has resided since 2001. She was the widow of Glenwood R. "Glenn" Spangenberg who died September 27, 2001.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Vincent and Carmella Vella Pugliese and a lifelong member of the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church. Prior to retirement she had been employed by Linder Brothers, Inc., Scranton.
In her younger days she was well known for her signing at funerals and weddings.
Surviving is a son, Paul D. Spangenberg and his wife Cheryl, Ash, NC; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Lester S. and Glenwood Jr.; three brothers, Louis, Thomas and Al Pugliese; two sisters, Josephine Lipless and Rose Pugliese.
The funeral will be Thursday with Services at 2 p.m. in the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church, by the Rev. David Twiss, Pastor. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township.
