Marie Pauline Rosar

    Marie Pauline Bieniecki Rosar, 81, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Tuesday afternoon in the Mercy Inpatient Hospice Unit at Mercy Hospital after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer. She was the widow of Russell F. Rosar who died June 4, 2001.

    She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Clemens and Anna Krul Bieniecki. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, the altar and rosary society, a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and active with the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind . Prior to retirement she was employed by Suburban Casuals, Scranton.

    She was wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed spending time with her friends from the Blind Association and especially looked forward to modeling in the Helen Keller fashion show. She will be missed by all who knew her.

    Surviving are two daughters, Julianne Smith and her husband Robert, Elmhurst, Paula DePeters, Gouldsboro; a son, Russell J. Rosar and his wife Nancy, Apalachin, NY; a sister, Roseann Drabik, Scranton; three brothers, Joseph Bieniecki, Clifton, NJ, Robert Bieniecki, Scranton and Clemens "Butch" Bieniecki, Scranton; five grandchildren, Robert Jr., and Christopher Smith, JoJo, Dominique and Nicolle DePeters; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

    She was preceded in death by a son in law Joseph DePeters.

    The funeral will be Friday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church. Interment Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

    Friends may call Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind, 228 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18503-1602.
