Marie M. Olenchak

Marie M. Olenchak, 90, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died early Thursday morning in the Mountain View Care Center. She was the widow of Edward F. Olenchak Sr., who died May 1, 2005.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Andrew and Magdalena Landolt Kettel. She was a 1934 graduate of St. Mary’s High School, a lifelong member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary society. Prior to retirement she had been employed by Kaltenbach’s Bakery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain View Care Center. Especially the nurses, nurses aides and physical therapists for their wonderful and loving care.
Surviving are three sons, Richard and his wife Alice, Moscow, Edward Jr., and his wife Arlene, Mount Cobb and Jack and his wife Gayle, Scranton; three daughters, Paula Fougeray and her husband Rene, Lehighton, Marie Quinn, Falls Church, VA, Donna Walsh and her husband Michael, Scranton; a brother, Andrew Kettel, Scranton; two sisters, Betty Phillips, Scranton and Madge Sviatko, West Pittson; 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son in law Francis Quinn, 2 sisters, Rose Brier and Sister Janette Brier, S.C.C..
The Funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 430 River Street. Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Covington Township.
