
Dorothy Caffrey Waering

Dorothy Caffrey Waering, 88, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died early Monday morning in the VNA Hospice Inpatient unit at Moses Taylor Hospital, after a brief illness. Her first husband Joseph Caffrey died September 10, 1956, her second husband John "Jack" Waering died July 4, 1994.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late John J. and Margaret D. Langan Murphy. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church. Prior to retiring had been employed by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company at their warehouse location on Elm Street and was a member of the A & P Golf League.
She enjoyed her garden, playing golf and sewing. She loved children, especially all of her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are a bother in law and sister-in-law, Rich and Rose Evans, Scranton; two nieces, Kathleen Comstock, Scranton and Margaret Rajan, Clarks Summit; two nephews, John Murphy, Scranton and Frank Murphy, New Jersey; a stepdaughter, Judy Zargursky, Newport News, VA; three stepsons, James Waering, Allentown, John Waering, Wilkes-Barre and Paul Waering, Peckville; great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Agatha Murphy; four brothers, Francis, John, Joseph and infant brother Leo.
The funeral will be Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 9:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1201 Providence Road. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
