Joseph J. Laskowski

    Joseph J. Laskowski, 84, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died late Friday evening in the VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center. He was the widow of the former Helen A. Michulowski who died November 22, 1996.

    He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Clarence Laskowski and Anna Borkowski Laskowski Pelsynski. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church, served with the Army Air Corp during World War II and prior to retirement had been employed by Capital Records for many years.

    He enjoyed the outdoors, especially picking berries and mushrooms and was a familiar face at the Gerrity’s Supermarket on Meadow Avenue, known for being friendly, always having a hello for everyone. Even if he did not know you.

    Surviving is son, Joseph J. Laskowski, Jr. and his wife Marlene of Laurel, MD; two grandchildren, Stephen Laskowski and his wife Lisa, San Diego, CA; Michael Laskowski and his wife Jennifer, Bloomfield, CO; two great grandchildren, Toby and Alex Laskowski both of San Diego, CA; two brothers, Paul Laskowski, Dunmore, Walter Pelsynski, Dupont; two sisters, Mary Blau, Scranton and Ann Gilligan, Lancaster; a good friend who was always there for him, Joseph W. Weiss of Plains Township; many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by a son Charles G. Laskowski, who died July 4, 2004; five brothers, John Laskowski, Stanley Laskowski, Clarence Laskowski, Adam Laskowski and Louis Pelsynski.

    The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard Street. Interment will be held private at the convenience of the family.
