William Ellard

    William Ellard, 78, a lifelong resident of Scranton died Thursday afternoon in the Mercy Hospital after a lengthy battle with diabetes. He and his wife the former Louise Wirth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 14th.

    He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Arthur W. and Lottie Rzoncki Ellard.. He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church and attended services at the Assembly of God Church in Moosic. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and prior to retirement had been employed as a tool and die maker for Dupont Tools.

    He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who enjoyed reading, loved the outdoors and walking around lake Scranton.

    Also surviving is a daughter, Cindy L. Walsh and her husband James P., Olyphant; two sons, David B. Ellard, Scranton, William A. Ellard and his wife Donna J., Dunmore; five sisters, Emily Liparulo, Binghamton, NY, Gladys Skiscim, Dunmore, Florence Klimaitis, Evelyn Moxen and Dolores Leoncini, all of Scranton; three grandchildren, William C. Ellard, Rebecca K. Ellard and James P. Walsh II; many nieces and nephews.

    The Funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 550 Madison Avenue, Scranton PA with services by the Reverend Scott Loomer, Pastor. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

    Friends may call Monday at 4 to 7 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue.
