He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Edwin L. And Julia Novack Chase. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1956 and a graduate of the University of Scranton earning a BA in accounting and an MBA. He served actively as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America and the Scranton Elks Lodge. Early in his career he served as an adjunct faculty member at the Penn State University, Worthington Campus and the University of Scranton. He worked for more than twenty years at International Correspondence Schools where he rose to the post of controller. Prior to retirement he was the fiscal coordinator for Monroe County.

    The family would like to thank the staff and care givers at the St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home for all their wonderful care.

    Also surviving are three daughters, Alison M. Cummings and her husband James A., Clarks Summit, Dana L. Chase and her husband Adam J. Greschler, Baltimore, MD, Rebecca S. Chase, Philadelphia; two sons, Eric M. Chase and his wife Ellen M., Montoursville, Glenn T. Chase, New York City, NY; a brother, Edwin H. Chase, Tunkhannock; a granddaughter, Kaylee Cummings; five grandsons, Andrew and Luke Chase, Jeremy, Shane and Evan Cummings; many nieces and nephews.

    The funeral will be Wednesday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, 430 River Street. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore.
