Catherine E. Darbenzio

    Catherine E. Darbenzio, 60, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died early Tuesday morning in the VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County Inpatient Unit at the Community Medical Center, after a brief illness. She and her husband, Vincent J. Darbenzio, celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in July.

    She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Augusta Wilson Grady. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church and prior to retirement she had worked for Nino's Sportswear, Scranton.

    She was kind to everyone that she met and enjoyed playing bingo.

    Also surviving is a daughter Catherine A. Darbenzio and her husband John Hitchcock, Mayfield; three sons, James J., Vincent B., and Christopher P., all of Scranton; six grandchildren, Brittani Crieg, Matthew, Zachary, Marina, Justin and Christiana Darbenzio; two sisters, MaryLou Lacentore and her husband Frank, Williamsburg, NJ, Rosemary Capitano and husband Peter, Pittston; a brother, Joseph Grady and wife Janice, Scranton; several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Grady.

    A Blessing Service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
