Reta H. Lewis, 81, a lifelong resident of Moosic, died Friday morning in the VNA hospice inpatient unit at the Community Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late John W. and Anna Heitman Lewis. She was a member of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church and active with the women's group, a member of the South Scranton Senior Center and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Prior to retirement she had been employed locally as a seamstress.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Roy, James, Willard, Joseph, Garfield and John; three sisters, Catherine Barnecko, Anna Lisiewicz and Jeanette Krieger; and her long time friend Mary Sisko.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 232 Wyoming Avenue, with Services by the Rev. James P. Stevenson. Interment, Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton. Friends attending the funeral service are asked to go directly to the church.
