Edward J. Claus

    Edward J. Claus, 81, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Thursday afternoon in the Moses Taylor Hospital after a brief illness. He and his wife the former Eileen M. Alimena were married 51 years.

    He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Eugene J. and Mary Katherine Miller Claus. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, South Scranton, a graduate of St. Mary's of the Assumption High School, a veteran of WW II serving with the US Army, a member of the VFW Rabiega-Gorgol Post #3451, South Scranton, a member of American Legion Major Edward J. Poch Post #948, South Scranton, a member of the Young Adults of Sacred Heart Church and an associate member of International Association of Electrical Inspectors. Prior to retirement he was the owner and operator of Claus Electric located Scranton for more than fifty years.

    He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. His favorite hobby was wood working.

    Also surviving, are nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews.

    He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bertrand, Eugene, Cyril and Paul; two sisters Oliva K. Winkler and Isabella Schraner.

    The funeral will be Monday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's of the Assumption Church. Interment, parish cemetery.
