John E. Price, 78, a resident of Olyphant, formerly of Scranton, died Saturday afternoon at the home of his son in Middletown, NJ. His wife, the former Lois A. Rose died December 13, 1989.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late John David and Mary Larkin Price. He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a veteran of WW II serving as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Force. He worked for Miller Electric Supply from 1966 until 1991 becoming a partner. He worked full time for R. J. Walker from 1991 to 1996 and then continued to work part time from 1996 until 2001.
He was an avid golfer and played in many golf leagues.
Surviving is a son, James S. Price and his wife Leah, Middletown, NJ; a brother, William Price, Scranton; two grandchildren, John Price, Alexandria, VA and David Price, Middletown, NJ; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Richard Price.
The Funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with services by the Reverend Scott Loomer, pastor of the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
