Edna Bohn Fuhrer, 100, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Monday morning in the Mountain View Care Center. She was the widow of Dr. Theodore P. Fuhrer who died July 7, 1976.
She was born in Scranton the daughter of the late Mathias and Katherine Fox Bohn. She was a member of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was an excellent homemaker in the fashion of her day. Acting as the telephone receptionist in the dental office of her husband on many occasions. She was active in the Scranton Dental Society and served a term as vice-president.
After her husband's death she engaged in afghan knitting creating many beautiful afghans which she gave to her family and friends. She enjoyed celebrating her 100th birthday on February 26th. She and her family were thrilled with the many good wishes that were sent to her at that time. This very classy lady was loved by her family and friends and will be sadly missed.
Surviving is a daughter, Kathryn Lieberman and her husband Marvin, Hillsborough, NJ; a son, Theodore P. Fuhrer, Jr. and his wife Linda, Tyler, TX; three grandchildren, Kathryn Gacos, Karin Potts and Glenn Fuhrer; five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Willis Kuhns; a brother, Matthew Bohn; four sisters, Mildred Kneller, Lydia Fiorey, Dorothy Hidinger and Viola Teneyck.
A grave side service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore by the Rev. Tom H. Collins, pastor of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church.
Friends may call Saturday 9:15 am to 10:15 am in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, 435 Hickory Street, Scranton, PA 18505-1113 or to the Mountain View Care Center, 2309 Stafford Avenue, Scranton PA 18505-3686.
