Dorothy A. Calvey Plotkin, 46, a life long resident of Scranton, died Sunday in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of the Mercy Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She and her husband, Allen Plotkin celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary May 1st.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of John J. "Jack" Calvey, Dunmore and the late Dorothy Kelly Calvey. She had attended Scranton Technical High School and was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Church. Prior to her illness she was employed by TMG Health, Scranton and was a school crossing guard at the corner of Pittston Avenue and Fig Street.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who was a friend to everyone and will be missed.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jessica Plotkin, Scranton, Jenna Plotkin, Scranton; two sons, Justin Plotkin, Scranton and Jason Plotkin, Havelock, NC; a grandson, Justin Logan Plotkin, Scranton; a sister, Madeline Drabick, Baltimore, MD; four brothers, Wilfred Calvey, MO, Gerald Calvey, Washington, DC, Robert Calvey, Scranton, James Calvey, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother John "Jack" Calvey.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Church, 1501 Pittston Avenue. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
