George W. Phillips

    George W. Phillips, 67, a resident of Taylor for the past five years, formerly of Benton Hills, died Saturday, at home after a courageous battle with kidney disease and renal failure.

    He was born and raised in Scranton, the son of the late Willard and Madelyn Lanning Phillips. Prior to retirement he had been employed by the Abington Heights School District.

    He was a kind, friendly, giving person, a wonderful son, brother and uncle. He loved going to Chick's Diner for coffee with his brother Ralph and loved animals, especially his Boston Terrier "Rocky".

    Surviving are two brothers Ralph Phillips and his wife Berniece, Taylor, Thomas Phillips and his wife Linda, Taylor; two sister in laws, Ruth Phillips, Scranton and Mary Jane Phillips, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and his Boston Terrier Rocky.

    He was preceded in death by three brothers Gerard, James and Robert; two sisters, Madelyn Davis and Charlotte Phillips.

    There will be a Blessing Service Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue. Cremation services will be held at Maple Hill Crematory. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Cathedral Cemetery.

    Friends may call on Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Humane Society of Lackawanna County, 967 Griffith Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411-9299.
