Anthony J. (Renaldi) Rinaldi

    Anthony J. (Renaldi) Rinaldi, 88, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Thursday morning in the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Hospice Unit, Dunmore. He was the widow of the former Carmel Reap who died February 8, 1986.

    He was born in Scranton, the son of the late John and Elizabeth Scannella Renaldi, a member of the Nativity of Our Lord Church and attended Scranton Central High School. He was a decorated veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII. He saw action on the beaches of Normandy for which he received a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the V.F.W. Theodore J. Wint Post 25 and had been employed by Brooks Manufacturing, Old Forge and retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot.

    For many years he donated his time volunteering at the Mercy Hospital. He loved to run and participated in many road races and the YMCA half-marathons. His greatest love was being with his daughter Barbara and his grandsons William and Christopher. When Alzheimer’s and other medical problems overtook him in the last years of his life, they lovingly and tirelessly saw to his every need. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

    Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Ann Bambach and her husband William; two grandchildren, William L Bambach and Christopher A. Bambach, both of Scranton; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Renaldi, Larry Renaldi and Samuel Renaldi; three sisters, Mary Noll, Rose Marie Summa and Ann M. Renaldi.

    The funeral will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard Street. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
