Elizabeth M. Sealey, 91, a lifelong resident of Scranton died Thursday afternoon in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late William and Marcella Cooney Sealey. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and attended Saint John's High School until having to leave to take care of her younger brothers and sisters when her widowed mother fell ill. Prior to retirement she worked for Consolidated Molded Products for almost 50 years.
She was an avid reader and Yankees fan. If she was not watching a Yankees game she was reading a novel.
The family would like to thank the staff of the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center for their excellent care and comfort during the last week of Elizabeth's life.
She is survived by two sisters, Agnes O'Neill, Kearney, NJ, Mary Hall, Scranton; a sister in law, Ethel Sealey, Scranton; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, John "Jack" and Joseph; a sister, Sister Marquita Sealey, I.H.M.; a sister in law Lucille.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John The Evangelist Church, 1501 Pittston Avenue. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at CMC Hospital, 1822 Mulberry Street, Scranton, PA 18510-2369.
