Ann Emily Liples

    Ann Emily "Mudd" Liples, a lifelong resident of Scranton, went home to be with the Lord Friday evening while in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center. She and her husband John Liples were married 49 years at the time of his death, March 18, 1999.

    She was born March 7, 1932 in Scranton, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Selma Stoeckel Brown. She was educated in Scranton Public Schools, a member of the order of Order of the Eastern Star, where she was past matron. Prior to retirement in 1997 she had been employed by Birch Cutting.

    She was a devoted, loving and caring mother who adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a best friend to all who knew her and was nick-named "Queen Mum" in the Northeastern Apartments were she resided. Her death leaves an emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, that only time can heal.

    Surviving are three daughters, Deborah A. Daubenhauser and her husband Ronald, Milton, Cindy L. Weaver and her husband Peter, Prescott, AZ, Donna R. Chelland and her husband George, Old Forge, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Forester.

    The funeral will be Tuesday in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Services at 10 a.m. by Pastor Ron Liples of the Dickson City Assembly of God Church. Entombment, Italian American Cemetery, Scranton.

    Friends may call Monday 5 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, Pennsylvania 18447-1531.
