Mary Elizabeth "Teensyee" Butler, 83, a resident of Dunmore died Friday morning at home. She was the widow of James H. F. Butler who died March 19, 1984
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Gaylord T. and Marie O’Brien Price. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, attended Marywood College, was a member of Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore, the M.A.C. Social Club, Moosic Lakes Women Club, St. Joseph’s Auxiliary, Sant’ Andrea Society and many other charitable organizations. Prior to marriage she was employed by the First National Bank of Scranton and was associated with the Butler Casket Company in Scranton and Wilkes Barre until her death.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Butler, Dunmore, three sons, James Butler, Dunmore Michael Butler and his wife Jacqueline Sheerer, Dunmore, John Butler and his wife Lynne Schevets, West Pittston; three grandchildren, Natalie Butler King and her husband Thomas King, Dunmore, Michael Butler, Dunmore, Marilyn Kristina Butler, West Pittston; two great grandchildren, Layla Elizabeth King, Eliana Frances King; a sister in law Nancy Butler, Dunmore.
She was preceded in death by a brother in law, the Reverend Henry J. Butler, S.J.; a sister in law, Rosemary Butler, several aunts and uncles.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of the Mercy Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, Allied Services at Mercy, Mercy Home Health Care and Mercy Home Hospice. Also, Special thanks to Dr. Lori Williams, Dr. Marvania, Dr. Madhavol Baikadi, Dr. Michael J. Gallagher and the late Dr. J. Robert Gavin for their excellent care, kindness, compassion and support.
The Funeral will be Monday at 10:15 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton with Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue. The family requests that memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Jesuit Seminary Mission Bureau, Maryland Province of the Society, 7400 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21204.
