C. Charles Mauer

    C. Charles "Chuck" Mauer, 77, a resident of Moosic for fifty years, died early Thursday morning in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. He and his wife, the former Doris Grunberg, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary January 12th, 2007.

    He was born in Scranton, the son of the late William G. and Elizabeth Rieder Mauer. He was a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, South Scranton, graduated from the University of Scranton Class of 1951, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict and prior to retiring, owned and operated, the Greenwood Inn, Moosic.

    Also surviving, four children Dr. Michele Mauer Carpenter and her husband Edward J. Carpenter, Aliso Viejo, CA, Dr. Mark W. Mauer and his wife Nadia Stec Mauer, Corning, NY, Michael C. Mauer and his wife Tani P. Mauer, Far Hills, NJ, and Marla Mauer Chambers and her husband Christopher Chambers, Valley Cottage, NY; ten grandchildren, Anna Carpenter, Lora Carpenter, Kelly Carpenter, Matthew Mauer, Adam Mauer, Benjamin Mauer, Tian Mauer, K-Max Mauer, Zachary Chambers, Ruby Chambers; nieces and, nephews.

    He was preceded in death by a brother William Mauer and a sister Kristen Mauer O'Connell.

    The funeral will be Monday with mass at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 430 River Street, Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
