Helen B. Reuther

    Helen B. Reuther, 83, a longtime resident of Scranton, died Tuesday morning in the Community Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of Leonard A. Reuther who died December 1, 1997.

    She was born in Old Forge, the daughter of the late August and Cecilia Lukaszewsky Yetzina. She was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church and had attended Dickson City Public Schools. In her younger days she was active in St. Cecilia's Choir and Saint Anthony's Church in Dickson City and enjoyed going on the parish picnic's. She worked locally in the garment industry and retired from Mallard Sportswear.

    She met her husband while working at Capitol Records and they had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 7, 1997 before his passing.

    Her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking her kolachi bread at Christmas time and hosting many family gatherings at the lake, and in her backyard. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her dahlias.

    Surviving are a son, Leonard C. Reuther, Scranton; two daughters, Susan Coleman and her husband John, Dunmore, DeSalle Reuther, Scranton and her companion Robert Ferranti; a brother, Roman Yetzina, GA; three sisters, Felicia Kazmerski, Dickson City, Maryann Szczech, NC, Lorraine Rabel, Olyphant; four grandchildren, Eva Depre and her husband William, PA, Michael Reuther and his girlfriend Steffie Hendley, Taylor, Carrie Boulay and her husband Richard, MD, Matthew Coleman, Dunmore; nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Purta and Florence Pacewicz.

    The funeral will be Friday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Avenue. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore.
