Maria C. Farber, RN

    Maria C. Farber, R.N., 73, a longtime resident of Scranton, formerly a resident of Old Forge, died Saturday morning in the Mercy Hospital after an illness. She was the widow of William L. Farber who died April 1, 2002.

    She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Frank and Lena Paffi Santoli. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, a graduate of Old Forge High School Class of 1951 and a graduate of Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1954. She was a member of the 800 Club that met at Immaculate Conception Church and prior to retirement she was a private duty nurse at the Community Medical Center hospital.

    She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin sister and friend. She was passionate and proud of being a nurse. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and baking.

    Surviving is a daughter, Eileen Bonk and her husband Richard, Scranton; a son, Wayne Farber and his wife Shirley, Old Forge; a sister, Magnolia "Tootsie" Good, Danville; two brothers, Joseph Santoli, Scranton, Frank Santoli Jr., Old Forge; four grandchildren, Heather Sulz, Adam Farber, Steven Farber and Devon Bonk; a great grandson, Jacob; nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Cremation services took place at Maple Hill Crematory. A Memorial Service to honor her life will be celebrated Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 800 Taylor Avenue, Scranton.
