Eleanor C. Levis

    Eleanor C. Levis, 86, of Manassas, VA, a former longtime resident of Scranton, died Sunday afternoon in Birmingham Green Nursing Home. She was the widow and devoted wife of Elmer J. Levis who died on December 22, 1981.

    She was born in Scranton, the daughter of late William and Edna Kirchoff McGreevy, a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was named "Belle of the Class". She was a lifelong member of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, a member of the Sebert Schneider Sunday School Class and along with her husband, was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 16 and Cub Scouts, Pack 16, both of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church.

    She will be remembered by all who knew her for her generous spirit, kind and loving heart, and will be greatly missed.

    She is survived by her children, Bill Levis of Scranton, Bob Levis and his wife Lois of Moscow, Sue Brier and her husband Daniel of Fairfax, VA, Diane Kaestner and her husband Jack of Bonita Springs, FL; a nephew, George Orr, Lafayette, LA. She was the proud grandmother of fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her only sister Evelyn Orr; and a granddaughter, Cindy Ann Levis.

    The funeral will be Thursday with services at 10 a.m. in the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, 437 Hickory Street, with Services by the Rev. Tom H. Collins, pastor of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington, Township.

    Friends may call on Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue.
