Frank Joseph "Sonny" Napolitano, 78, formerly of Warren, N.J., died early Saturday morning in Saint Mary's Villa, Elmhurst, after an illness.
He was born and raised in Scranton, the son of the late Pietro and Settina Conte Napolitano and attended Scranton public schools. He was a Korean War veteran who served with United States Army as a Sergeant with Company F 135th Infantry, 47th Infantry, Viking Division at Camp Rucker, Alabama. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club with both chapters in New Jersey. Prior to retirement he had owned and operated The Blue Ribbon Bakery in Union, NJ for 35 years.
He was a loving brother and uncle, his family came first and he never missed a family event.
Surviving are two brothers Lawrence Napolitano and his wife Nancy, Moscow, William Napolitano and his wife Gloria, Moscow; two sisters, Concetta Chmielewski, New Providence, N.J., Pauline Sebastian and her husband Louis, Scranton; twenty nieces and nephews; forty great nieces and nephews; two great great nieces.
He was preceded in death by two sisters Mary Wayne and Lucille Sacchetti.
The Funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 630 Genet Street. Scranton. Interment with military honors will be in the Italian American Cemetery, Scranton.
