She was born in Dunmore, the daughter of the late David and Mary Lois Belles Legg. She attended Dunmore High School and was a member of the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church, Scranton. Prior to retirement she had been employed by Allied Services in the Child Care Center and by the United Cerebral Palsy Services.

    She loved her children, grandchildren and spending time with them. She was always about giving to others and had a deep personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed writing, especially children's books, songs and poems. She was a published author of many of her works.

    Surviving are five sons, Paul D. Powell, Scranton, Richard P. Powell, Whiteville, NC, Gary R. Powell, Scranton, Charles M. Powell, Springbrook Township, Gregory A. Powell, Taylor; four daughters, Janice L. Viccica, Scranton, Gloria J. Moore, Taylor, Robin A. Igoe, Scranton and Juliette D. Mulett, Tampa, FL; her former husband and best friend, Paul W. Powell, Clarks Summit; many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

    She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Mills, Lillian Mills; a brother, David Legg.

    Funeral Services will be Thursday at 10 am in the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church, those attending are asked to go directly to the church at 825 Green Ridge Street, Scranton, by the Rev. Dave Twiss, Pastor. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. The family will greet friends Thursday from 9 am until 10 am in the church.
