Ethel May Mentz

Ethel May Mentz, 98, a longtime resident of Springbrook Township, died Saturday evening in the Allied Services Skilled Nursing Facility. She was the widow of Victor E. Mentz who died June 23, 1988.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Kathryn L. Kaiser Tomlinson. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a former member of The Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, sewing and working in the yard with her flowers. She especially enjoyed taking care of her family.
She is survived by a son, David J. Mentz, Springbrook; a grandson Justin D. Mentz, Springbrook; a sister Mildred Prodorutti, Philadelphia; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Paul Mentz; a sister, Geraldine Schultz; two brothers William Tomlinson and John Tomlinson.
The funeral will be on Tuesday, leaving from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue at 9:30 a.m., Services at 10 a.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church, 2506 North Main Avenue, Scranton by the Reverend Kristian Bjornstad, Pastor. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Bell Mountain.
Friends may call on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Evergreen Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, c/o Immanuel Lutheran Church, 238 Reese Street, Scranton, PA 18508-1449.
